From Quriyat, we drive nearly 20 km into the interiors to reach the majestic Wadi Dayqah Dam. All along, you enjoy the mountains that define the landscape. The 75-m high dam in Al Mazara village is the biggest manmade Dam in Oman. Sprawling across 400 metres the dam holds 100 million cubic metre water.
Let us move on to our next location, Wadi al Arbaeen. This is a challenging off-road drive through the Hajar Mountains, enjoying natural rock formations in the shape of mushrooms.
The wadi instantly rejuvenates you with its pure turquoise blue waters. Have your lunch under a palm tree.
We return to Muscat but on the way stop at the long-stretching Wadi Mayh, located between Yiti and Sifah. Enjoy a rough drive through the beautiful mountain range beautified with magnificent natural rock art. The land abounds in small streams and fresh water pools. There are also aflaj—traditional irrigation canals used by villages and farmers as a source of fresh water.
It’s evening. Time to return to Muscat.
